“My China Story of the Greater Bay Area” International New Products Competition Award Ceremony

The award ceremony for the “My China Story of the Greater Bay Area” International New Products Competition, organized by the China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration (CICG), was held in Zhongshan, Guangdong. A total of 28,217 entries were submitted for this competition, covering more than 40 countries and regions across five continents worldwide. Over 20 Chinese and foreign judges specializing in media, film and television, the internet, and international communication conducted three rounds of evaluations, ultimately selecting 81 winning entries.

During the award ceremony, Gao Anming, deputy director general and chief editor of CICG, expressed that the construction of the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao is a major national strategy in China. The Greater Bay Area has become one of China’s most open and economically vibrant regions. “My China Story” is an exemplary project of CICG’s “Foreigners’ Stories About China” series. Over the past five years, it has been committed to creating and international communication of multilingual new media products, providing a platform for communication, collaboration, and cooperation among domestic and foreign experts, scholars, professional institutions, and media teams. In the future, CICG is willing to work together with domestic and international partners to explore and create more diverse and colorful stories about the Greater Bay Area, develop innovative and internationally effective humanistic exchange activities, and together compose a splendid cultural chapter for the Greater Bay Area and showcase the rich facets of Chinese culture to the world.

During the award ceremony, several foreign bloggers shared their stories of creation. A self-media blogger from Venezuela said that the Greater Bay Area combines culture, innovation, and economic strength. As a center for technological innovation, it attracts talent worldwide and serves as a melting pot of different traditions, languages, and customs. The efficient transportation network, modern facilities, and sustainable urban planning in the Greater Bay Area have set new benchmarks for other regions in the world. Living here for eight years has deepened his understanding and love for China.

The “My China Story” project was established by CICG in 2018, and the first International Short Video Competition was held in 2019. It is a long-term initiative aimed at domestic and foreign creative teams, foreign anchors, self-media teams, and individuals, collecting multilingual and multimodal short videos on Chinese themes. It showcases the unique perspectives of foreigners observing China. It records the exciting journeys of foreigners exploring China, gathering China stories from around the world, and presenting communication between China and foreign countries from a third-party perspective. After five years of development, “My China Story” has become a well-known project for international communication, integrating multilingual short video creation, annual competitions, thematic competitions, international media communication forums for new media, and thematic film screenings. The China Story Alliance mechanism launched in 2021 has collaborated with over ten foreign bloggers to produce more than 20 episodes of multilingual short videos, widely disseminating them on overseas social media platforms. It has been covered by national-level news agencies and foreign media websites across five continents, including the Associated Press, Deutsche Presse Agentur, Antara News Agency (Indonesia), African News Agency, and Australian Associated Press.
