篮球明星克里斯·波什寄语青少年

克里斯·波什（1984～）是美国著名的NBA篮球运动员，2003～2010年效力于多伦多猛龙队，2010年加入迈阿密热火队，与勒布朗·詹姆斯、德怀恩·韦德一起号称热火队三巨头。2012年和2013年，波什带领球队夺得了NBA总冠军。此外，波什从2006年至今连续九次入选NBA全明星赛，是NBA的风云人物之一。作为篮球运动员，波什无疑是成功的；而在球场外，他也积极回馈社区，为社区做出贡献。在下文中，波什与青少年们分享了自己的故事、智慧与经验，读来令人受益颇多。

When I was offered the opportunity to share something with you， I was ecstatic1）. I attempt to set an example on and off the court2）. As co-captain this year of the Toronto Raptors3）， I am attempting to show leadership on the court by making the correct decisions regardless of the scenario4）. This includes my behavior while participating in practice， speaking engagements5）， and games. If I work hard， day in and out， hopefully it will drive my teammates to do so also.

Off the court， I am also reaching my goal of giving back6） to the community. I am very passionate about this. Not too long ago， I was the kid participating in different community centres and Boys and Girls Club7） programs—learning and establishing values in different areas. Now that I have the opportunity， I am definitely focused on giving back.

My mother， Freida Bosh， my cousin， Adriane Mayes， and I work hard to show our faces8） in the community and to give back. This year， we have our third year of Ticket Programs， a mentoring9） program called Bosh's Kids， a book club entitled Bosh's All Stars， various education related contests that reward youths with game tickets， and we will host a Black History Quiz Bowl in February. I also speak at various times throughout the season emphasizing literacy， education， and respect. I have been lucky to have Converse10） Canada and Scholastic11） Canada on board with The Chris Bosh Foundation because they believe in what we are doing in the community. They have been extremely supportive of all of our endeavors12） in the United States and Canada.

It is important to surround yourself with the most positive， skilled， and supportive team possible. In order to have an idea of who that may be， you must pay attention to the people around you. Truly， education is one way of becoming aware of the difference between right and wrong. Your decisions in life are based on what education you receive. Listening to your teachers， elders， and mentors will help steer13） you to the correct decisions.

I have been blessed with the opportunity to play professional basketball. My position has given me the opportunity to reach out to all of you. If you remember one thing， just remember to be an individual. Sometimes life may throw curve balls at you14）， but keep doing what is right—no matter who is watching. Continue to work hard and reach your dreams. Dreams do in fact come true.
